Polk County

Located in the western piedmont of North Carolina, Polk County is on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is home to the Tryon International Equestrian Center, which hosted the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games.

In April 2019, the Hometown Strong Action Team met with the towns of Saluda, Tryon, and Columbus to hear about the strengths, opportunities, and challenges they face.

Polk County’s terrain has helped to make it into a destination for equestrian enthusiasts, and its proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains has made it into a vacation and retirement destination.

Hometown Strong Action Team members are planning to meet again with the county and local leaders to determine possible priorities and possible points of state and local collaboration.
